Design Thursday #8
A weekly recap of everything you need to know about tools, events, guidelines and design in general.
Make something wonderful
When thinking about Apple, Steve Jobs still comes to mind. He was the person who popularised the company and its products and is to this day seen as a big inspiration to many people. A new book was published by the Steve Jobs Archive is telling Steve’s story in his own words. It is also enhanced by a wonderful web experience designed by LoveFrom, which former Apple Designer Jony Ive is part of.
Framer min/max viewport units
Framer now supports viewport units for the min/max width and height values. It can also be used in components, enabling you to create (partly) screen filling experiences, like a full-screen desktop menu.

Figma Export to Video
Ever wanted to share a video of your prototype? Well now you can! With the new Export to video plugin. It will automatically create a video of your prototype which you can export to video or GIF.
Aninix Prototype Export
Related to the video export, Aninix also allows you to export to video, GIF and even Lottie. This way you can keep the amazing quality and implement your interactions anywhere. *Only works with delay interactions for now
Shape Move
Thought exporting prototypes was cool? Wait until you try Shape Move, a plugin to animate vector shapes with just two frames. The plugin automatically animates your vector points, allowing you to create animated illustrations or text. You can export to video, SVG animation or GIF.
Webflow interaction search
If you have a motion heavy site in Webflow it can be hard to find the interaction you are looking for to tweak. It now becomes a lot easier with search in the interaction panel.
Splinespiration 2.0
A brand new version of Splinespiration (created by @aximoris) is now available. It’s a collection of Spline 3D files that you can, as the name suggests, use as inspiration.
Figma mobile comments
Figma released a new update for their mobile app, allowing you to comment faster than ever before. How much faster? 5 times! Check out the great announcement video.
Good design tools
Good design tools is a great resource for finding everything from fonts, books, games, icons, software and more. You can even suggest your own tools and have them listed on the site.
Joyful UI
Designer tend to take themselves very serious, so sometimes you just have to do something fun. Take Pinterest Shuffle’s filter experience. Something totally different than you are used to, but joyful to use.
Video of the week
Sit down students, time for a history lesson. Where does the first computer user interface come from, where did Apple get their inspiration and how did it shape modern computers? You can learn all about it in The Verge’s video on the Apple Lisa.
