Design Thursday #19
A weekly recap of everything you need to know about tools, events, guidelines and design in general.
Webflow localisation update
Webflow previously announced that they are working on a highly requested localization feature which allows you to offer your website in multiple different languages. You still have to use different tools to translate your website and it’s not always a great result, so it will be very useful. Previously it was announced as multi-language, however now it seems like a much bigger update. On top of localizing text, you can also localize images or elements. It’s still work in progress, but you can already see a preview of what they are working on.
Intro to Dev Mode
Figma is hosting a deep dive session on Dev Mode on July 19th. It will mostly be tailored towards engineers, but it can be interesting to learn more about it as a designer so you know how your developers can use Dev Mode.

Framer released 2 updates, so you can build better mobile menus on your site. The update includes separate overflow X & Y properties, a Scrollbars property, viewport units for height in variants, transition property on any variant layer and transition support for link styles. Instead of explaining all this, you can just watch the latest demos for mobile menus.

Campsite updates
You can now create a task list in Campsite in a post or comments, this can be useful when sharing work in progress design to clearly show what has been done already and what you still have to do. On top of that you can now set custom favorites, this can be projects, people, tags, and posts. Just drag them in your sidebar for easy access.
Design and prototype for iOS 17 in Figma
Design+Code released a new video on how to design for iOS 17 in Figma. It covers Figma features, new Apple Human Interface guidelines and more. This is mostly made for designers who are new to Figma or iOS, but it can be a great refresher.
