Design Thursday #11
A weekly recap of everything you need to know about tools, events, guidelines and design in general.
Webflow improvements
Webflow launched quite a few quality-of-life improvements over the past week. CMS collections can now be nested in folders, so you can have more control over the URL. Template pages can be unpublished, this way you won’t have to make a webpage for every collection item. And last for collections, you can now duplicate them to quickly create new collections without having to start from scratch.
There have also been some performance updates for large websites to make Designer load faster, making switching between pages faster and making the grid layout more responsive.
As a final update, there is a quick search for swatches, making it easier to find the right color in your system.
Midjourney 5.1
A new version of Midjourney is now available to make image generation even better. They should be more coherent, sharp and beautiful according to Midjourney’s latest tweet. They also added a RAW mode for more control, as it should be less opinionated and allow more creative control.
Stark sidekick
AI 🤝 Accessibility, Stark launched their accessibility assistant to the Figma and Sketch plugin. It's called Sidekick and will help you make your designs more accessible. It will scan your design file and suggest contrast, font size, alt text and more improvements.
mmm is in beta
mmm is a drag and drop website creator. It’s not meant to create sites we are used to from Webflow or Framer, but more like a personal online canvas. It brings me back to the old web days, when things were created just for fun and personal expression. Hopefully, this will inspire some future designers and engineers.
Airbnb 2023 Summer release
Need some design inspiration, Airbnb’s updates are always great to have a look into. They explain every new feature accompanied by some great design visuals.
Campsite video updates
Videos uploaded to campsite are now automatically transcribed and words are highlighted when they are spoken. This is a great way to include voice over in your design demos.
Spline community
Want to get better at 3D and get inspired by what others are making? Spline community is here to do just that. You can discover and follow creators, showcase your work, remix, like and comment.
Video of the week
Design+Code is killing it with the new AI related videos. This week, they posted an Ultimate Guide to Midjourney for Designers. Great to help you get started and know how to use it in your process.
