Android 14 changes

The first Android 14 beta is now available and has some changes important to know when making Android apps.

  • Fonts can now be scaled up to 200%, making it compatible with WCAG guidelines
  • You can change regional settings per app (example: first day of the week, number formatting, temperature)
  • New back gesture animation with a predictive preview
  • More strict photo access permission, similar to iOS
  • Add gender specific copy based on language and the person you are addressing
To provide a similar phrase in French, there are a few options: - Masculine-inflected form: "Vous êtes abonné à..." (English: "You are subscribed to...") - Feminine-inflected form: "Vous êtes abonnée à…" (English: "You are subscribed to...") - Neutral phrasing that avoids inflection: "Abonnement à…activé" (English: "Subscription to ... enabled")
