Pencil is now available

Pencil is an alternative for Figma with AI in mind. It's an open-source design canvas file you can add right in your code base. Where you can just sketch something out or define your whole design system. With MCP, you can then build the design in code, or the other way around, use your AI to adapt or create your designs. It's available as an extension for VSCode/Cursor or as a standalone app which integrates with Claude Code.

Stitch MCP

Google added support to use Stitch via MCP. You can use it to either implement your designs created in Stitch or generate new designs via your favourite AI coding tool.

Framer Advanced Hosting

Framer is adding more options for hosting by adding Multi Site, which allows you to use the same domain for multiple Framer websites, and Custom Headers, which gives you more security controls. Good to know: it's only available on the Enterprise plan, but you can sign up for the private beta on Pro and Scale plans.

Penpot 2.13

Penpot's latest release is out right now with a few new features: You can now recover deleted files from the trash, and they added support for shadow tokens.

Making art at scale with AI

In this conversation with Escha Vera, you will discover how she uses AI tools for generating images. Which tools, process, and how to apply it at scale, which was used for Perplexity's Comet invitations. Great to hear how others are using these tools. It's also a good reminder that AI shouldn't be the end point of creating visuals, but a part to get to the result.

2026 AI Design Field Report

In a new Dive Club episode, Stephen Haney (founder of Paper) discusses how AI is reshaping design workflows at scale. AI tool usage is part of performance reviews in a lot of companies now, with designers increasingly delivering functional prototypes built in Claude Code and Cursor rather than static mockups. While this shift has empowered designers to work closer to production code, teams have moved from Figma's seamless web-based sharing back to localhost challenges when exchanging coded prototypes.
